Jeanie was awarded a Diploma in Dental Hygiene by University of Alberta, Canada, followed by further education in Applied Science at University of Calgary.  After being awarded an MSc Degree from the University of Oxford in Evidence Based Healthcare in 2005, she completed a PhD in Clinical Dentistry at UCL investigating the association between obesity and periodontitis. Subsequent to clinical practice work and teaching in Canada, she worked in the Department of Periodontology, University of Bern, Switzerland.

Jeanie was formerly involved in patient care, teaching and the conduct of clinical research at UCL Eastman Dental Institute in the Unit of Periodontology and is particularly known for her teaching of non-surgical periodontal therapy.  She was the director of the MSc in Dental Hygiene on-line programme at UCL Eastman Dental Institute until mid 2023. Her love of the profession is driven by a passion for optimal patient care.
