Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, layered shells of porcelain shell which can be attached to the teeth. They are used to cover damaged, chipped, heavily stained or worn teeth.

What are porcelain veneers?

They can be used to alter the shapes, colour and appearance of teeth and close gaps between teeth as required. In situations where tooth straightening is not possible or undesirable, tooth adjustments can be made to accommodate minor alignment discrepancies for the perfect smile.

Why choose porcelain veneers?

N
Certain types of Veneer are ultra-thin to avoid the need for any major filing of your natural teeth
N
They can hide minor imperfection without resorting to more lengthy procedures
N
Porcelain is stain-resistant meaning you won’t need to make any dramatic lifestyle changes to ensure your new Porcelain Veneer smile makeover stays bright and white.
N
Veneer maintenance is similar to regular teeth requiring only regular brushing and flossing to keep your veneers in perfect condition

Porcelain vs Composite

Composite materials and techniques have advanced tremendously over the last decade enabling them to last longer and maintain their appearance. However, the longevity of porcelain is far superior and does require less maintenance. Some surface staining is not entirely maskable with composite and therefore porcelain may be required in these circumstances.

Porcelain does however, require some, albeit minimal tooth removal which may not be desirable for some as this is irreversible. The process of porcelain veneer treatment does require an extra appointment, whereas composite bonding generally can be done in one day (after the initial consultation)
