Your first dental examination explained
Normally, your first appointment with malmin dental will be a detailed consultation with an expert, lasting around 30 minutes, from only £35*

During this appointment, your Dentist will discuss any concerns or problems you may be experiencing before beginning the full analysis of your mouth.
The Dental analysis consists of the following steps;
Step 1
Assessing your jaw joint and inside lining of your mouth (oral cancer screening).
Step 2
Screening your gum health and checking for active gum disease.
Step 3
Assessing and checking your teeth and fillings or restorations you may have. The detailed assessment may reveal the following which may affect your teeth;
- tooth decay (caries)
- failed fillings or restorations
- tooth wear due to grinding
- tooth wear due to heavy tooth brushing
- tooth wear due to acid erosion
- bite problems
Your Dentist may also need to take X-rays for further analysis and to aid diagnosis.
Step 4
With the aid of a camera (to take any relevant photographs of your teeth) and digital X-rays (90% reduced exposure), your Dentist will provide a verbal overview and illustration of your current Dental Status.
Should any treatment be required, a clear and transparent written treatment plan with costs will be provided for you, before deciding on proceeding with any active treatment.

At your consultation, please advise your Dentist or nurse of any special requirements which may affect your treatment, which may range from anxiety to back pain or concerns during the examination appointment.
